The Great Depression, Barack Obama, and the New Deal!

Saturday, November 22, 2008, President-elect Barack Obama, during his Democratic Radio Address, addressed his concern for the economic fate of the United States.

Just last week the stock market fell to lows not seen in a decade. As a result, Obama would like to initiate a stimulus plan upon his acceptance of presidency.

The two-year economic stimulus plan is designed to create or save 2.5 million jobs, funnel money toward public works programs to repair the country’s failing infrastructure and invest in alternative energy programs to make the United States more independent.

Hmmm, isn’t that what we just did? I thought that the Bailout or Rescue Plan was for the people on “Main Street?”

$850 million worth of economic support was passed by both the House of Representatives and Senate. Were their votes cast in vain? Has the Bailout truly insisted in helping the average Joe?

<

No. Despite the significant decrease in gas prices, the average Joe is still struggling. Why is he still struggling? He struggles because the Bailout/Rescue plan is a fine example of trickle-down economics, which aims to restore the economy from the top down.

We all know that history repeats itself. Must I remind you about the events that led to the Great Depression? On October 29, 1929, the stock market crashed, known as Black Tuesday.

Similar to the situation that took place before the Bailout, when (Merrill Lynch, JP Morgan Chase, and a hosts of others) were requesting financial support from the government, banks and other financial institutions during the 1920’s were also in dire straights, pulling productive businesses down with them as they called in loans and foreclosed mortgages in a desperate attempt to stay afloat.

Afterwards, there were “Two” New Deals that were initiated.

The “First” New Deal (1933-35) aimed at restoring the economy from the top down (The Bailout or Rescue Plan).

The “second” New Deal (1935-40s) aimed at restoring the economy from the bottom up (Barack Obama’s New Stimulus Plan).

If history truly repeats itself, the New Deal of Barack Obama is something that America should be excited about. Keep in mind that the reforms executed though the “second” New Deal helped end World War II and stimulated the economy.

Will Barack Obama Make Black People Proud?

Obama and Racism in the 21st Century

“Change,” was the campaign slogan for the democratic ticket, but what does that mean for the black race? Newspapers across the country are already reporting that the racial barrier in the United States is crumbling with the presidential election of Barack Obama.

Indeed, the election of Barack Obama was a historical event, but it would be foolish for Blacks to think, that even for a second, that they are exempt from the public haunt of racism.

Yes, Barack Obama is an African American president, but the color of his skin will not warm the cold hearted views of thousands of American racists who still exist in the 21st century.

How many white Americans didn’t vote for Barack Obama simply because he was “black?”

A hell of alot!

Don’t let the election of Barack Obama lead you to believe that racism has been eradicated in the United States. Racism is patiently waiting to rear its ugly head, and its presence will soon be felt, forcing America to revisit the past of the 1960’s.

Are these people racists, or just plain “uniformed?”

I’ll let you be the judge.

If you listen to their views, you’ll see that they have been victimized by poor media tactics. “Obama is a terrorist?,” perhaps this idea came from the “fist bump” whoorah that was released by Fox. “Obama is a Muslim?,” perhaps this comes from the the cover of the the New Yorker, which depicted both Barack and Michelle Obama dressed like Muslims, standing in the White House.

So what if Barack Obama is a Muslim?

Anyone who is educated about world religions knows that Christianity, Judaism, and Islam are very closely related, and that extremists or terrorists are ostracized by the real Muslim community.

But I digress…

The point of this article is, that Americans needs to educate themselves when it comes to the issues, concerns, and candidates of this country. Don’t rely on the media or the internet to help you answer your questions, rely on yourself.

If you don’t, you may have the displeasure of being documented on “You Tube,” as a complete fool like the West Viginia whites above.

I love and pray for you ALL!
